Hong Kong's Jack Wong claims pickleball men's singles title, silver in doubles

Local favorite and top seed Jack Wong Hong-kit won the men’s singles championship at the PPA pickleball Hong Kong Open on Sunday, securing a hard-fought three-game victory over a determined Vietnamese opponent in front of a spirited home crowd.

In the final held at the Kai Tak Arena, Wong took the first game 11-9 before his opponent rallied to level the match with an 11-4 win in the second. 


The decider remained tight throughout, but Wong held his nerve to clinch the third game 11–9, sealing the title two games to one.

The local crowd played a notable role, cheering loudly as Wong trailed and erupting in applause each time he scored. 

The venue filled with cheers the moment he secured the championship point.

In a post-match interview, Wong described the PPA Tour as one of the most recognized professional pickleball circuits in the world and emphasized how meaningful it was to win the title at home. 

He admitted the final was challenging and acknowledged losing focus briefly during the match, but said he remained composed overall to achieve his goal of winning the championship.

Looking ahead, Wong expressed his intention to travel to the United States for specialized training after completing the current tournament season.

Wong and his South Korean partner, Kim Eunggwon secured a silver medal in the men’s doubles pickleball event after a hard-fought final that lasted approximately two hours. 

The duo ultimately fell to a pair from the United States with a match score of 1-2.
